Candidates for the 2017 NSW by-elections
Candidate for Manly - Kerry Bromson
Born in the Clare Valley South Australia, Kerry has lived in the Manly area for the last 40 years. Kerry got involved with the voluntary euthanasia party after the passing of her brother Max in 2014. Max who was involved in the party since its conception in 2013 when he stood for the senate in the federal election. Max lived with secondary bone cancer for five years and believed it was an individuals right to have a choice at end of life.
Kerry, like Max believes that when it comes to the end of your life it your right to choose - we need a law so individuals can choose a peaceful end and avoid what her family and brother went through.
The Voluntary Euthanasia Party wants a law which will give a choice to people who have incurable and unbearable suffering. Our candidate supports an overwhelming number of registered party members living in manly who strongly support VE. Although the party is a single issue party, Kerry if elected will work very hard to support the wishes of the local constituents. With no other party policies that have to be adhered to, Kerry can put forward the needs of our Manly residents.
"There are many issues concerning our local area that need thoughtful and positive action and I will do this with an open and sincere approach, listening to the Manly people. I look forward to being of service to the you."
Candidate for North Shore - Brian Beaumont Owles
Brian is a retired Chartered Accountant who involves himself in a number of not-for-profit and charitable organisations. He is a Rotarian, a member of Dying with Dignity and the Agent for the Voluntary Euthanasia Party of NSW. His prime objective as a candidate for North Shore is to raise awareness and support the Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill 2017 that is planned to be presented in Parliament for the legalisation of assisted dying in cases of intolerable suffering of terminally ill patients.
VEP has no specific policies with respect to other legislation and community issues. However as a logical, thinking professional person, if elected, I would address all legislative issues on their merits (as a true independent).
