“I strongly believe that it is quality of life that is important, rather than quantity. Each person should be able to make choices about their lifestyle. End-of-life choices are vitally important and should be respected by society and the medical profession. Advanced Health Care Directives and Appointment of Enduring Guardians must be legally binding documents that are to be respected by all parties.
End-of-life choices need to be discussed with family so that appropriate decisions can be made. I held Power of Attorney for the management of health matters for my father; during his terminal illness period I was able to instruct the medical profession on the appropriate action to be taken to allow him to have a peaceful end to an active life of 93 years.
End-of-life choices need to be a respected element of each individual’s life.”
