Personal Statement

"I was a young man of 19 when my father first contracted cancer in 1968. I saw him struggle with enormous pain and suffering and he eventually passed away in 1971 – a shell of a once very fit man. I promised myself at that stage that I would do everything possible to ensure that people have the right to a dignified ending.

Obviously since that time I have had the unfortunate circumstances to see my ex-wife, cousins, aunties and uncles suffer the same type of undignified ending. I would like to ensure that I play whatever small role I can to see a change in laws allowing people to die in a dignified manner if it is of their choosing."

Despite strong public support and lobbying over many decades our elected representatives have failed to act. It's time to make them listen.
