The State Foundation Executive committee would like to say thank you to the 250 volunteers who handed out our ‘How To Vote’ leaflets on Election Day. It was an incredible effort that we can all be very proud of.
The final results
The final results are in and out of the 394 candidates who contested the 21 seats in the NSW upper house, our lead candidate, Shayne Higson, came 25th, just 4 places away from gaining a seat.
The Voluntary Euthanasia Party (NSW) candidates gained 40,791 primary votes or 0.94% of the vote or 0.2 of a quota. This put us in 8th place out of the 24 groups or 3rd out of the 19 parties or groups who didn't already hold seats in the NSW upper house.
In the end, the last seat went to the Animal Justice Party, which shows that a single issue party can still achieve representation in the NSW Parliament.

Our campaign will continue
A number of volunteers have commented that many voters seemed to be unaware of the Voluntary Euthanasia Party, so between now and the next state election, we will need to continue to raise the profile of this issue and our party.
Please continue to have conversations about the need for law reform - call talkback radio, write letters to the Editor now and again, or wear the VEP T-shirt occasionally. We won’t give up until we achieve law reform.
