Richard Mills is a candidate for election to the NSW Legislative Council on 28 March 2015, as a representative of the Voluntary Euthanasia Party (NSW).
Richard is a Life Member of Dying with Dignity NSW, and was a member of its Executive Committee from 2009 to 2014, and its President from 2012 to 2014. He has followed closely the developments about voluntary assisted dying, both in Australia and overseas.
Richard was formerly a member of the Senior Executive Service of the Commonwealth Public Service, mostly in the Prime Minister’s Department and the Department of Defence. Later, he taught politics at university, his most recent position being Adjunct Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Government at Sydney University.
“Like more than 80% of Australians, I believe strongly in the fundamental right of every person to choose, to the maximum extent possible, the manner and timing of their death. Voluntary euthanasia relieves unnecessary suffering and decades of overseas experience show that it works safely.”
Richard’s email is firstname.lastname@example.org, and his phone number is 0402 852 712.
